Supreme court rolls out guiding cases
To make clear judicial rules and unify standards, the Supreme People's Court has released a new batch of guiding cases, all involving intellectual property disputes. It is the first time for the court to roll out such cases in a particular field, Guo Feng, deputy director of the research office at the court, said at a news conference on March 9. Since the first release in December 2011, the court has announced 87 guiding cases. IP cases accounted for nearly 23 percent of the total, including 10 released in the latest batch.

Alliance founded to spur innovation
A national intellectual property industrial technology innovation alliance, which was founded by 129 companies, universities, colleges and research institutes in late February, is working to provide tailor-made, one-stop services, covering patent filing, assets evaluation, legal consultancy and other IP-related services. The alliance will attract more IP service providers and work to advance reforms in the sector, improve IP quality and promote a better service standards system, said its chairman Long Feng.

Nanjing to host intl auto expo in May
An international new energy vehicle expo scheduled for late May in Nanjing, capital of the province in East China, is expected to attract nearly 1,000 new energy vehicle manufacturers as well as suppliers of batteries and charging equipment from China and abroad to display their eco-friendly technologies and high-tech resolutions, organizers said. One of the major production and sale hubs of new energy vehicles in China, Nanjing already has a well-established industrial chain in the sector.

Livestock ship delivered in Dalian
China's first home-developed livestock transport ship, the Changhe, was delivered in Dalian on March 10. Modified from a cargo container carrier, the ship is about 130 meters long, 20 meters wide and weighs 11,672 metric tons. It has a volume of 6,400 cubic meters and is capable of carrying 5,000 cattle or 16,000 sheep.

33 projects awarded at design contest
Thirty-three projects won awards on Sunday in the first Intellectual Property Cup creative design contest in Xiamen. Co-hosted by the Xiamen intellectual property office and the Xiamen Industrial Design Association, the event was launched in November 2016 and attracted more than 600 projects along with 30,000 online votes. Exhibitions will be organized in the following month to showcase the awarded works and attract companies interested in commercializing them.
