China Daily | Updated: 2017-03-09 07:21

More teams should be absorbed into China's soccer leagues with the aim of fostering talent and upgrading the level of the national teams, said Zhang Jindong, owner of Chinese Super League giant Jiangsu Suning.

Zhang, who made his comments in Beijing on Monday, is the founder and largest shareholder of the Suning Commerce Group, an electronic retailing giant. He is also a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).

Zhang said the CSL, China's top-flight league, should be expanded from 16 to as many as 20 teams.
