Rail project set to boost African insfrastructure

By Zhong Nan | China Daily | Updated: 2017-03-05 13:07

Eager to take advantage of the rapid regional links in Africa brought about by the Belt and Road Initiative, China Railway Rolling Stock Corp will ship 330 cargo trains to Kenya this year for use on the new Mombasa-Nairobi line.

The first batch of 60 C70E cargo trains reached Mombasa in late February, and the remainder will arrive in the East African nation later this year.

China's national railway vehicle and equipment maker will have the trains manufactured by one of its subsidiaries - CRRC Qiqihar Rolling Stock Co in the northeastern province of Heilongjiang.
