Everton angling for Rooney return

LONDON - Everton manager Ronald Koeman on Tuesday opened the door for Wayne Rooney's return to the club of his youth by saying the Manchester United striker would make the Toffees "stronger".

Rooney last week said he was staying at Old Trafford following persistent speculation he was set to make a lucrative move to the Chinese Super League.

But doubts still surround the long-term future of the 31-year-old, and Koeman is keen to take him back to Merseyside.
