Beijing: Act shows sincerity on Korea

Beijing said its recent suspension of coal imports from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea shows its responsible attitude toward the Korean nuclear issue and its sincerity in implementing United Nations Security Council resolutions.

On Saturday, the Ministry of Commerce and the General Administration of Customs issued a notice to halt this year's coal imports from the DPRK, including coal that has been declared at customs but hasn't been given clearance.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said on Tuesday the decision was made in accordance with Resolution 2321, which the Security Council adopted in November.
