Tomb finds hint at ancient trade

Around China

Archaeologists have almost completed excavations on a tomb cluster dating to the Warring States Period (475-221 BC) that was unearthed at a construction site in Feihu village, Pujiang county, in September. Of the 60 tombs present, 47 had been excavated as of mid-January and more than 300 relics have been found, including bronzes, pottery, porcelain, bamboo ware, glass, coins and 11 ancient seals. Experts said the relics indicate that the inhabitants of Sichuan were engaged in trade along the ancient Silk Road as far back as 2,200 years ago.
