Item from Feb 15, 1983, in China Daily: This postage stamp (right) has a face value of 3 yuan, but was sold for 3,700 yuan at Beijing's first stamp auction on Sunday.
Liu Baorui, a 30-year-old Beijing factory worker, bought the stamp, entitled The Stage Art of Mei Lanfang, an actor of Peking Opera.
In all, stamps worth more than 90,000 yuan were sold at the auction. ...
