REBRANDINGS

Formerly known as Jingmin North Bay, Wanda Realm Xiamen North Bay joined the Wanda Hotels and Resorts group as the 103rd luxury property under the worldwide brand at the end of December. The hotel in Xiamen, Fujian province in East China has 402 guestrooms, each with a balcony. It aspires to be a new landmark in the coastal city.

The Park Lane Hong Kong, a Pullman Hotel, has promised its guests a refreshing experience following its rebranding in January 2015 and the recent completion of a $38 million makeover. The 832-room hotel features one of the most spacious guestrooms in town, with views of Victoria Harbor and Victoria Park, three restaurants and a lobby lounge bar and state-of-the-art meeting facilities. 00852-2293-3888

Global hotelier Marriott International unveiled its first Chinese property under its Tribute Portfolio brand in Shanghai in late December. The hotel, about 46 kilometers from downtown Shanghai, is located at the Sheshan National Forest Park. The park centers around the mountain for which it is named and is home to a large Catholic church and an observatory.

A new Wanda Love Projection Room, the 100th of its kind, recently opened at Luobu School in Lucheng township, Hefei, Anhui province in East China, thanks to a donation from the Wanda Children's Foundation. Co-founded by Wanda Hotels and Resorts and the China Charity Federation in 2012, the foundation has spent some 4 million yuan ($575,900) building projection rooms for children in remote mountainous areas.

CELEBRATIONS

Kuntai Hotel Beijing celebrated its fifth anniversary with a gala evening on Dec 24. The ceremony featured performances staged by hotel staff, an ice sculpture and robots interacting with participants. The hotel's business revenue increased to 130 million yuan ($19 million) in 2016 from 70 million yuan in 2011.

Sheraton Fuzhou Hotel is offering a special variety of Chinese dishes until Jan 27, the eve of Spring Festival, to celebrate the traditional Chinese holiday. They include Fotiaoqiang, a soup of many ingredients including shark fin, sea cucumbers and abalone.
