Human rights NGO elects chairman

Qiangba Puncog, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, has been elected as chairman of the China Society for Human Rights Studies, as the society elected its new leadership and national council on Friday. The society, the largest national nongovernmental organization in the human rights area in China, convened the first conference of its fourth national council.
