Qiu Xiaojun showed he has nothing to prove - but plenty to improve.
On Saturday night in his hometown of Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, Qiu again put up a gallant fight but fell short in his second crack at the WBA world super bantamweight title, dropping a unanimous decision to Venezuela's Nehomar Cermeno.
Six months ago in Beijing, the 36-year-old Cermeno (25-5-1, 15 KOs) won by technical knockout over a tired and desperate Qiu in the final round. This time, the champion found his rhythm early, tattooing Qiu (21-4, 10 KOs) with double jabs and a snapping straight right.
