Society: Woman opens steamed bun shop to feed the hungry

Unlike normal stores, the goods at a steamed bun shop in Nangong, Hebei province, are not for sale. Instead, they are given away for free to people in need. Jia Xiuying opened her shop in 2012. A former employee at the local bureau of civil affairs, Jia often dealt with people in vulnerable groups during her tenure. She offers the buns to anyone who needs them. Each person is allowed to take four steamed buns a day with a special card. Sometimes, more than 1,000 steamed buns are given out in a single day.
