Aviation: Govt asks planes to report location every 15 minutes to boost safety

Chinese aviation authorities have asked all airplanes to send their location reports more frequently in a bid to improve safety, according to a report. All airliners need to send their longitude, latitude and altitude every 15 minutes or even less to ground control, Beijing Times quoted the Civil Aviation Administration of China as saying. Currently, planes do report their location, but now the interval time has been shortened. Last year, 160 countries decided to keep a radio frequency open for satellites tracking routes of airplanes after the MH370 went missing in 2014.
