Bowling is not fashionable anymore. The once-rising sport is losing its popularity in the country. In Beijing, there were about 120 bowling clubs in 2003. There are less than 20 now.

The number of people playing the sport regularly in the capital also fell from 50,000 to about 2,000 in the same period, according to the Beijing Bowling Association.
