Jail term seen as 'mere distraction' for ex-president

Uli Hoeness will complete his redemption on Friday when he is re-elected president of Bayern Munich after serving a jail term for tax evasion.

The 64-year-old, who as a player won three European Cups with Bayern plus the World Cup and European Championships with West Germany, was released in February from Landsberg prison - the same institution where Adolf Hitler was jailed in 1923.
