Society: Report forecasts life expectancy will hit 79 by 2030

Life expectancy in China is projected to reach 79 by 2030, according to a report published recently by the central government. Although this might not come as a surprise to Beijingers, whose average life expectancy has already reached 80, it will be welcomed in areas such as the Tibet autonomous region and Yunnan province where the figure is below 70, according to the latest census. Shanghai tops the list with 80.26 years, followed by Beijing at 80.18 and Tianjin at 78.89. Tibet comes lowest in life expectancy at 69.17 years, followed by Yunnan at 69.54 and Qinghai at 69.96.
