Hotel excels in hosting G20 ministers forum
The Sunrise Kempinski Hotel at Beijing & Yanqi Island was in the spotlight again recently when it hosted China's 2016 G20 Science, Technology and Innovation Ministers Meeting.
More than 500 representatives from G20 members, guest countries and international organizations, including high-ranking government officials, attended the meeting from Nov 3 to 5.
Ministers participating in the event included John Paul Holdren from the United States, Gregory Hunt from Australia, Lim Chuan Poh from Singapore and Micha Zaga Elias from Mexico.
With the theme of "breaking a new path for growth", the meeting mainly discussed such topics as policies and practices of innovation-driven development, innovation and entrepreneurship, and priority fields and models for G20 cooperation in science.
"This was the second time we have hosted a G20 ministers meeting this year, and our well-prepared team provided high-quality service and an innovative menu," said Brice Pean, the hotel's general manager.
"The visiting ministers and the Chinese government greatly appreciated our work," he said. "My team and I are proud to have had the opportunity to host such an important event, which confirms the trust we receive from the Chinese government to host world dignitaries at the Sunrise Kempinski Hotel, Beijing & Yanqi Island."
The hotel's first G20 assignment for 2016 was to host the G20 Energy Ministers Meeting in June.
This was the fourth time the Kempinski's team had hosted a global forum, following the APEC meeting in 2014 and the Understanding China Conference in 2015.
The hotel, as a new destination for international summits and forums, was chosen to host the events as part of this year's G20 Summit.
Kempinski has a history of more than 100 years, 23 of which have been spent in the Chinese market. The brand has a deep understanding of China and Chinese culture, the hotel management said, adding that its whole management team had to ensure that the G20 mission in 2016 was a success.
The successful completion of the G20 Science, Technology and Innovation Ministers Meeting added another important milestone to Kempinski's 23 years in China.
Sunrise Kempinski Hotel, Beijing& Yanqi Island has again demonstrated to the world that it is able to deliver European fl air and luxury in combination with highly respected traditional Chinese culture, the hotel's management said.
