Event to celebrate Sun Yat-sen's birth
An event commemorating the 150th birthday of Sun Yat-sen, founder of the Kuomintang party, will be held on Friday morning, according to an official statement on Wednesday. President Xi Jinping, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, will deliver a keynote speech at the event. Born in 1866 in Guangdong province, Sun Yat-sen is a revered revolutionary leader who played a pivotal role in overthrowing imperial rule in China.
