Item from Oct 27, 1982, in China Daily: China will need 50 million new urban homes between now and 1990, according to He Ziyu, director of the Ministry of Urban and Rural Construction.

Last year, China's urbanization rate was 56 percent, up by 2 percent from 2014, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.
