Taking the high road

China Daily | Updated: 2016-10-22 07:27

The Sichuan-Tibet route, also known as the G318 national road, has been called China's most beautiful landscaped avenue by China National Geographic. And there are many stories of how artsy young and middle-aged men and women stick out their thumbs while standing by the side of the road - which is the route to Lhasa - and easily get a ride. This has now been proven to be a myth, but luckily there is a Didi carpooling service that lets you get that ride. You can also get to know many people during the ride. Mobile internet has totally reshaped the way we travel today. This amazing trip ends on a high note - the wildflowers on the plateau are in full bloom, the snow and glaciers on Namjagbrawa Peak are still there, Nyingchi's green grass is restored vitality and Lhasa is still quiet in the early mornings. It a great time to be traveling there. If you are determined, just place an order and set out quickly.
