Development timeline

The Science and Technology Business Park in Mianyang city lies to the northwest of the urban district of Mianyang, Sichuan province, with a total area of 12.89 square kilometers.

The park is a provincial-level development zone that features the integration of military and civilian, the combination of science and education, and the convergence of emerging industries and the modern service industry.

August 2001: Establishment of the Science and Technology Business Park in Mianyang.

January 2002: Approved by the State Administration for Science and Technology and Industry for National Defense and the Ministry of Science and Technology as the only national-level science and technology park to focus on the transfer of military technology into civil use.

October 2003: Designated by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Education as one of the 36 national university science and technology parks.

April 2005: Merged with the Yuanyi Industrial Park of Fucheng district under the arrangement of the city government.

August 2006: Approved by the National Development and Reform Commission as the Industrial Park of Mianyang, one of 30 development zones in Sichuan province.

December 2012: Named by the Ministry of Science and Technology as a national science and technology innovation and entrepreneurship base.

2013: Required by the city government to become a leader in the innovation-driven development of Mianyang Science and Technology City.
