Daughter refuses to meet father

Around China

An ill father who undertook a rail journey of more than 50 hours to visit his daughter had to stay at a care center for migrant workers after he failed to contact her. Shi Zhijun, 56, who traveled from Urumqi in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region to Guangzhou on Sept 25, said his daughter's mobile phone was off, so he was unable to talk with her. He stayed at a hotel for four days before approaching the migrant worker center for help after spending almost all his money, and staying there for a further four days. Shi's daughter, a postgraduate, said she had asked her father not to visit, so she didn't meet him.
