Former Hainan vice-governor jailed for life

Tan Li, former vice-governor of Hainan province, was convicted of bribery and sentenced to life in prison by a court in Guangdong province on Thursday.

The Guangzhou Intermediate People's Court found Tan, 60, guilty of accepting 86.25 million yuan ($12.85 million) in bribes.

He was deprived of his political rights for life, and all his personal belongings were confiscated.
