Landslide death toll rises to 17

Seventeen deaths had been confirmed by Friday, nine days after a landslide in Sucun village, local authorities said. Ten people remain missing, according to the rescue headquarters. Rain brought by Typhoon Megi caused about 400,000 cubic meters of debris to slide down mountains in the village on Sept 28, burying 20 houses. Twenty-seven people were reported missing after the accident. The 17 found by rescuers were pronounced dead at the scene.
