Alligator sinensis (Chinese Alligator) - Critically endangered

Range description:

Distributed in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River in the southern part of Anhui province and in some parts of the neighboring provinces of Zhejiang and Jiangsu.

China (Anhui, Jiangsu, Zhejiang)

Neofelis nebulosa (Clouded Leopard) - Vulnerable

Range description:

The Clouded Leopard is found in the Himalayan foothills in Nepal, mainland Southeast Asia and China. The Clouded Leopard has historically had a wide distribution in China, south of the Yangtze, but recent records of sightings are few.

Panthera tigris (Tiger) - Endangered

The Tiger (Panthera tigris) remains endangered due to an ongoing population decline. It is now estimated that the global population is around 5,000-7,000.

Range description:

Tigers are found mainly in the forests of tropical Asia, and breeding populations of Tigers are currently found in eight range states: Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Russia, and Thailand.

Range description:

This species is found only in the Beilun area, east of Ningbo City in Zhejiang province, China.

Range description:

The Yangtze Finless Porpoise is endemic to the middle-lower Yangtze River drainage basin in eastern China, from Yichang downstream to the estuary near Shanghai. It is now almost completely restricted to the main river channel and its two largest appended lakes (Poyang and Dongting).

Nomascus concolor (Black Crested Gibbon, Black Gibbon, Concolor Gibbon, Indochinese Gibbon) - critically endangered

Range description:

The species as a whole occurs in southwestern China, northwestern Lao and northern Vietnam.

Hucho bleekeri (Sichuan Taimen) - critically endangered

Number of mature individuals: 2,000-2,500

Range description:

Sichuan Taimen are confined to the headwaters of the Yangtze River, including the upper reaches of the Minjiang and Qingyi rivers in Sichuan province, the upper and middle reaches of the Dadu River in Sichuan and Qinghai provinces, and the Xushui and Taibei rivers in the upper reaches of the Hanjiang River at the southern end of the Qinling mountain range in Shaanxi province in China.

Psephurus gladius (Chinese Paddle fish) - critically endangered

Number of mature individuals: 0-50

Range description:

The Chinese Paddlefish is endemic to the Yangtze River in China.

Takifugu chinensis (Chinese Puffer) - critically endangered

Range description:

Takifugu chinensis is found in the Northwest Pacific, from Northern Kyushu, Japan to the East China and Yellow seas. It is found at depths ranging from 5 to 150 meters.

Pseudobagrus medianalis (Dianchi Bullhead) - critically endangered

Range description:

This species is endemic to the Dianchi Basin and the Zhangjiu River.

Native:

China (Yunnan)
