Fish mislabelled in one in five samples worldwide
Last year we were warned that diners are being tricked into paying higher prices for farmed salmon passed off as wild and, according to new research, seafood fraud is steadily increasing across the world.
The report, from nonprofit ocean conservation group Oceana, found that one in five of more than 25,000 seafood samples is being mislabelled worldwide. The group analysed 200 studies from 55 countries, on every continent except Antarctica, and found seafood fraud present in almost every investigation.
