Illegal mining blamed for blast
An initial investigation showed that the deadly coal mine explosion in Shizuishan on Tuesday was caused by illegal mining, according to the city government on Wednesday. The explosion occurred at 7 am, when 20 miners were working underground. Those responsible are in police custody. So far, 18 miners have been confirmed dead, and two others remain missing.
