Series of events planned for Martyrs' Day

The nation will observe the Martyrs' Day tomorrow. A number of events are planned across China to commemorate those who sacrificed their lives for the country. In Beijing, veterans, family members of martyrs and representatives from all walks of life will gather at the Monument to the People's Heroes in Tian'anmen Square in the morning for an official ceremony. Martyrs, as defined by the government, are people who sacrificed their lives for national independence and prosperity.
