Smog to clear up starting Tuesday

The National Meteorological Center said on Sunday that light to medium smog will continue to shroud parts of North China and provinces along the Yangtze, Yellow and Huaihe rivers over the next two days. The center advised people to avoid outdoor activities and take precautions. Starting on Tuesday, rain and a cold front will disperse the smog, the center said. Beijing experienced serious smog on Saturday and Sunday, with the Air Quality Index surpassing 229, meaning serious pollution, said the Beijing Environmental Protection Monitoring Center.
