Shangri-La offers guests a taste of the northeast
Tourists will be able to indulge in a taste of northeastern China during early October's National Day holiday, thanks to the special services offered by Shangri-La hotels located in the region.
Shangri-La Hotel Changchun located in the urban center of the capital of Northeast China's Jilin province, will offer double-occupancy guests a 70 percent discount and travel-related services at lower prices, including pickups for trips to Luxiang town, China's breeding center of sika deer and a sumptuous deer-themed feast.
The hotel is Changchun's first international five-star hotel, with a history of 20 years, according to Feng Chunmiao, its director of communications.
Following an 11-month revamp, it now has 382 guestrooms and 157 serviced apartments. Another Shangri-La hotel in Northeast China is located in Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning province, which is also one of the largest of China's major industrial centers.
Shangri-La Hotel Shenyang will offer a holiday package during the National Day holiday priced at about 800 yuan ($120), a nearly 60 percent discount on the regular rate. The package includes accommodation and a range of activities and amenities including spa treatments, swimming, car rental and weekend courses covering cooking, yoga and flower arrangement.
"The package is suitable for visitors of all ages," said Yao Mingxia, the hotel's director of sales and marketing.
"We have recreational facilities for children and amateur courses for adults," she added.
Customers can also sample typical northeastern Chinese cuisine, including pickled cabbage with pork belly, which German Chancellor Angela Merkel ordered twice at the hotel during her three-day stay in Shenyang in June.
