Former official admits to bribes
Xu Gang, former vice-governor of Fujian province, confessed in Hefei Intermediate People's Court in Anhui province to accepting bribes on Thursday. Xu was accused of taking advantage of his various official posts from 2002 to 2013 to benefit others in business dealings and career promotions. In exchange, Xu accepted bribes worth 19.77 million yuan ($2.96 million), the court said. A verdict will be announced at a later date.
