First police-produced app effective

The first anti-fraud smartphone app designed by public security authorities in China has proved effective after a year in operation, police in Foshan, Guangdong province, said on Tuesday.

It is the first application designed by a public security authority in China and was made to fight telecom frauds, according to officials in Foshan.

Once a person receives a message or call from numbers that are suspect, the app sends a warning message that it might be from a fraudster. The app, available for Android and iPhone devices, is free.
