Item from Sept 20,1989, in China Daily: Workers pack fast-frozen dumplings at a plant in Beijing. Since producing dumplings is labor-intensive and time-consuming, companies have turned to new processing methods such as fast-freezing.

Thanks to the development of cold chain logistics, Chinese consumers now have access to an increasing variety of fresh foods - from Boston lobsters to Norwegian salmon.

The China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing says the use of cold chain logistics is growing rapidly across China, but still lags behind developed countries, where almost 95 percent of fresh foods is transported by refrigerated trucks.
