Dialogue 'urgent'on DPRK issue

Foreign Minister Wang Yi told his Japanese counterpart that China opposes "unhelpful" unilateral sanctions on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. China opposes the Sept 9 nuclear test by the DPRK and will work with other permanent members of the United Nations Security Council to formulate a necessary response, Wang told Fumio Kishida in a phone call on Wednesday. Current tensions on the Korean Peninsula have made a restart of dialogue on the issue urgent and necessary, Wang said.
