US flies bombers over ROK in show of force

Two US B-1 bombers flew over the Republic of Korea on Tuesday in a show of force after the Democratic People's Republic of Korea's nuclear test last week, while a US envoy called for a swift and strong response to Pyongyang from the United Nations.

Speaking in Seoul on Tuesday, Sung Kim, the US envoy on DPRK affairs, added that the United States remained open to meaningful dialogue with Pyongyang on ending its pursuit of nuclear weapons.

"Our intention is to secure the strongest possible (UN Security Council) resolution that includes new sanctions as quickly as possible," Kim said after meeting his ROK counterpart.
