First Automobile Works and Audi AG enter into the Technology Transfer & License Contract on Manufacturing Audi Cars at FAW, under which a total of 499 Audi 100s would be manufactured.

Nov 20, 1990

FAW and Volkswagen agree to establish a joint venture with an annual production capacity of 150,000 cars, and the car assembly line is established.

Dec 18, 1995

FAW, Volkswagen and Audi enter into a tripartite joint venture agreement, marking the formal introduction of Audi in China.

1999

The Audi A6 (C5) rolls off the FAW-Volkswagen assembly line, becoming the first stretched luxury sedan manufactured in China.

Jan 2006

FAW-VW Audi Sales Division is established in Changchun, Jilin province.

2007

Audi becomes the first premium brand to reach annual sales volume of 100,000 units, and a total of 100,888 cars are sold in the year.

2010

FAW-VW Audi celebrates its 1,000,000th sale in Changchun. Audi becomes the first premium brand with a cumulative sales volume of one million units in the Chinese market.

2013

Audi Research and Development Center for Asia opens in Beijing.

2015

Audi became the first premium brand to reach annual sales volume of three million units.

2016

Audi's transmission production at Volkswagen Automatic Transmission Tianjin starts producing the first localized premium transmission system DL382, with an annual capacity of 240,000 units.
