Report on use of seawater released

Daily output at China's 121 seawater desalination projects reached more than 1 million metric tons as of the end of 2015, according to an official report released on Wednesday. The water is used mostly for industrial purposes (67 percent), with the rest for residential use, the report said. The report, issued by the State Oceanic Administration, said China's daily output represented less than 1.25 percent of the world's daily production volume of 86.5 million tons at the end of 2015.
