Closure of transfer window triggers huge contracts

The cashed-up English Premier League spearheaded a record-breaking raid on Europe's top clubs ahead of Wednesday's closure of the transfer window, with Arsenal alone paying more than $65 million for German defender Shkodran Mustafi and Spanish striker Lucas Perez.

The Premier League's TV riches fueled transfer inflation across the continent, with Inter Milan and Barcelona paying top dollar for Brazil's exciting Olympic gold medal-winning striker Gabriel Barbosa and prolific Valencia scorer Paco Alcacer.
