Festival invited artists from around the world to participate ahead of the G20 Leaders Summit

Since mid-August, about 20 artists from a dozen countries, including China, the Netherlands, Canada, Spain and the Czech Republic, have gathered in the city of Zhoushan to make sand sculptures of famous landmarks ahead of the upcoming G20 Leaders Summit in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province.

Organizers of the Zhoushan International Sand Sculpture Festival, which is due to open to the public on Sept 9, invited the artists to create "a sand sculpture global village".
