Li Xiaopeng resigns as the governor of Shanxi

Li Xiaopeng, the eldest son of former premier Li Peng, has resigned as governor of Shanxi province, Xinhua News Agency reported on Tuesday.
The Standing Committee of the Shanxi Provincial People's Congress said that Li's resignation had been approved and Lou Yangsheng had been appointed as acting governor of Shanxi.
Li, 57, has eight years' experience in Shanxi. Before starting his political career, he spent more than 20 years in the power industry and took senior positions at Huaneng, one of the country's leading State-owned power firms.
