Two rare US one-cent coins dating back to 1792 were expected to sell for nearly $1 million at a public auction in Southern California starting this week.
The copper coins, known as the "Silver Center Cent" and the "Birch Cent," were anticipated to sell for about $500,000 each.
The two coins were made during the early days of the US Mint.
