Gareth Bale (WAL) Tottenham Hotspur to Real Madrid - $103 million - 2013
The Welsh forward's performances for an attractive Spurs side persuaded Real to bid for him. The English side could not refuse such advances and let him go. Bale has built on his career at Santiago Bernabeu with two Champions League titles, scoring in the final of the first two straight showdowns with Atletico Madrid. His experience in La Liga helped lead Wales in its memorable run to the Euro 2016 semifinals. Bale also scored a stunning winner in the Copa del Rey final against Real's archrival Barcelona in 2014.
