Younger generation opens up to charities

By Meng Jing | China Daily | Updated: 2016-08-10 07:31

Spoiled and selfish are some of the ways China's so-called post-1990 generation are described. But now many members of that generation are taking positive steps to challenge these stereotypes.

A recent report from Alipay, China's largest third-party payment solution provider, showed that people aged between 16 and 26 have become major contributors to charitable efforts to help those battling with the country's worst floods for many years.

Statistics showed that as many as 190,000 netizens made online donations via Alipay by July 19 to aid people in China's southern provinces suffering from heavy rainfall and floods since mid-June.
