Ex-PM Yingluck appears in court

Ousted former Thai prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra appeared in court on Friday to deliver an opening statement in a criminal trial over her management of a rice scheme critics said hemorrhaged billions of dollars. Yingluck, Thailand's first female prime minister, was removed from office by a court days before the military took power in May 2014. Yingluck has been charged with negligence over her management of the program.
