Leroy Sane's transfer to Manchester City on Tuesday follows a well-worn path of Bundesliga talent tempted by high-profile Premier League moves - but many fail to secure starter status in England.

The 20-year-old Sane joined City for a reported $49 million, making him the most expensive German player ever and the costliest signing by a Premier League team this offseason.

The English club didn't disclose the transfer fee for the fleet-footed winger, who has just four caps for Germany and 47 Bundesliga appearances under his belt for Schalke.
