Exhibition to showcase concept of cultural heritage

The fourth China Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition will take place in the provincial capital of Jinan from Sept 21 to 25. Activities at the exhibition will include displays of embroidery items and ceramics, performances of traditional music, folk operas and martial arts. The event will also showcase food featuring intangible cultural heritage items, which will also be available to buy. The exhibition will help foster the idea among visitors that intangible cultural heritage is a living concept, according to the organizers.

Patent applications rise in autonomous region

The autonomous region became increasingly capable of intellectual property creation in the first half of this year. Its patent filings in the period reached 5,385, a year-on-year rise of 25.12 percent, and among them were 3,158 service applications. The number of patents authorized was 2,466, a year-on-year increase of 13.59 percent. The region was granted 501 invention patents in the first six months, increasing 51.82 percent on the same period last year.

Province pushes pilot education project

The province's intellectual property and education authorities launched an IP education pilot project for primary and middle schools on July 25. Provincial authorities will organize a range of IP education, publicity and practice activities in an initial 20 to 30 schools that have good IP education foundations. The province aims to develop 30 to 50 demonstration schools boasting well-established IP work systems and delivering a first-class IP education by the end of 2020.

New center looks to provide financial expertise

The Wuhan intellectual property financial innovation research and practice center was established on Thursday to promote the integration of IP and finance and explore innovative IP financing services. The center plans to provide expert IP finance resources via professional service platforms, including the Wuhan IP Exchange, and cooperate with companies and universities to formulate standard documents in the IP finance field.

Training sessions aims to boost awareness

More than 130 senior executives from large industrial businesses in Suzhou attended an IP training session from July 24 to 25. Training topics included IP risk prevention and control in the "Internet Plus" era. The session was the first of the province's series of IP training courses that target 48,708 large industrial companies to increase their IP awareness and IP creation capacity, use, protection and management. The sessions are slated to run until late September.

Document aim to raise trademark figures

The autonomous region recently issued a document to promote its trademark registration, use, protection and management. It plans to have more than 120,000 valid trademarks and more than 150 international trademarks under the Madrid System by the end of 2020. The region will also support and regulate the trademark agency service system and encourage the use of trademarks as intangible assets to invest and obtain loans.

Alibaba takes action on IP infringement

Hangzhou Customs signed an intellectual property protection memorandum with e-commerce giant Alibaba Group on July 26 to cooperate on a range of measures, including investigation and resource sharing to combat IP infringements in cross-border trade. Alibaba will introduce a range of measures, including closing accounts that have been verified as fraudulent by customs and using big data analysis to both assist customs in law enforcement and find shops and related individuals involved in fraudulent crossborder e-commerce.
