FINA rules seven Russians can't compete in Rio
The legal battle for individual Russians to compete in next month's Rio Olympics began on Monday as swimmer Yulia Efimova was the first to appeal her exclusion from the Games by the sport's global sanctioning body FINA, acting on criteria set out by the International Olympic Committee.
The IOC on Sunday declined to impose a blanket ban on Russian competitors over state-run doping, a decision that was met with fierce criticism elsewhere.
