3,000 campers evacuated in blaze

More than 3,000 holidaymakers were evacuated after a blaze threatened to spread across four campsites in the south of France, as a firefighter died on his way to the scene, officials said. Strong winds whipped up the flames in Torreilles, Pyrenees-Orientales, where thousands of French and other European tourists were staying, with 22 bungalows destroyed.
