Car borrowers racked up fines
A car owner in Mianyang city could have to pay fines totaling 43,450 yuan ($6,700) for 271 traffic violations involving his vehicle in the 15 months to May. The man, surnamed He, purchased his car in October 2014, but told police it had since been used by at least two other drivers and borrowed by relatives and friends when he was out of town on business. Local traffic police said that if He could not identify the drivers who had violated the traffic rules, he would have to pay the fines and 1,086 points would also be deducted from his license.
