Sector joins to promote lossless industry standard
Initiated by online streaming company LeTV, an alliance for the Continual Digital Lossless Audio industry was recently formed by standard organizations, equipment manufacturers, content providers and musicians. The alliance will promote the CDLA standard, which is aimed at lossless audio transmission on smartphones, along the industry chain. LeTV has, to date, filed more than 120 patent applications about the technologies.

SIPO announces measure to curb counterfeit products
The State Intellectual Property Office has announced a new batch of 28 national IP protection standardization fostering markets, aimed at enabling the total number to reach 131 within roughly two years. During a two-year fostering period beginning this month, SIPO will help markets to establish IP protection regulations and increase their protection awareness and capabilities. Since 2013, the office has been addressing IP issues related to various markets nationwide to curtail the flow of counterfeit goods.

New plan will encourage trade and innovation
In one of the latest provincial IP strategies, the Heilongjiang government has proposed to build a China-Russia IP service center and launch a cross-border IP service covering Russia, Mongolia and northeastern Asia. The strategy includes 32 guidelines covering areas including IP creation, application, protection, management and service. Wu Zhongan, a deputy director of the provincial IP office, said the strategy will be market-oriented and aim to encourage innovation.

New Ya'an office to handle filings from Sichuan
The State Administration for Industry and Commerce has authorized its branch in Ya'an to set up a special office to deal with trademark filings from Sichuan province. The move is expected to reduce the processing period from months to just one or two days, as local applicants no longer need to travel to Beijing to file. The Ya'an office is one of only two local administrations of its kind nationwide. The other is in Taizhou, Zhejiang province.

Officials call for unity against intellectual property crimes
Senior officials from China and central Asian countries called for closer cooperation to tackle cross-border IP crimes at a conference for members of the International Criminal Police Organization in the region, which opened last week in Lianyungang. Li Zhuqun, an official from the Chinese Ministry of Public Security, said the event would help international delegates share their experiences, exchange views about IP crime trends and attempt innovative models for enforcement cooperation.

Service park set to help innovative startups thrive
An IP service park was established on Friday in the central business district of the Tianjin free trade zone to provide tailor-made services for the area's innovative startups. Companies will be able to complete their trademark applications in just one hour. Funded by Ciprun, a leading online IP service provider, the park will organize forums, seminars and summits for local companies to exchange ideas on innovation. It will also cooperate with the government, banks and investment agencies to help companies apply for IP pledge loans.

Guidebook gives aid to IC designing companies
The guidebook of IP service standard of integrated circuit design enterprises was recently unveiled at the China (Shenzhen) IC Innovative Application Summit. The guidebook focuses on talent introduction, reverse engineering and rights allocation and covers all stages of enterprise development, from establishment to capital operation, aiming at reducing risks, cutting costs and promoting the value of innovations for IC designing companies.
