Item from July 4, 1987, in China Daily: This impressive new complex is China Central Television's new center in west Beijing. The center, which opened on Wednesday, will produce and transmit color TV programs to a wide area.
Since its completion in 2012, the new headquarters of CCTV has become a landmark in Beijing. The 234-meter tower was designed by the Rotterdam-based Office for Metropolitan Architecture, a firm behind several iconic buildings.
It was named the best tall building in the world by the Chicago-based Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat in 2013.
